Current Joint Ventures

DPDSAA has been fortunate to establish co-operative relationships with many truly dedicated and professional Animal Welfare entities.

Where we have established high levels of trust, common objectives and due-diligence reporting of expenditure, DPDSAA have committed to funding Joint-Ventures, thereby allowing the local entity to expand it’s reach and support ability, normally by offering additional sterilisation capacity.

Given increasingly high numbers of abandoned dogs and feral cat populations, DPDSAA are very cognisant of the need to intercede with Sterilisations ‘at speed’, this has been achieved via partnering with several well established Algarve Associations, which demonstrate they can provide established and proven procedures, protocols and presence within the Algarve.

DPDSAA in turn, provide financial capability to facilitate the activity whilst ensuring auditing of allocated funds for UK due-diligence purposes. Essentially, DPDSAA and the partner Association agree and demonstrate, that Value-For-Money and Due-Diligence principles are undertaken, including:

  • ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ Protocols,

  • Open-book reporting,

  • Phased Payments,

  • Regular 2-way Reporting.

Currently, DPDSAA have established the following Joint-Venture partnerships:

Joint Venture with Streetlife

StreetLife and DPDSAA have a common view about the importance of sterilisation and we have now joined forces to tackle the never-ending problem of unwanted puppies and dogs in the East Algarve (Sotavento) area.
StreetLife and DPDSAA are working together to spread the word. StreetLife support families on low incomes and also help several StreetLife Partner Shelters to sterilise the dogs they rescue and go into their care.

Over a three-year timescale, within the Eastern Algarve, DPDSAA will be helping to fund the sterilisations of female dogs, via a monthly grant of €3,600, upto a amount of €129,600.

We are proud to be working together with StreetLife, a truly passionate and dedicated animal welfare Association.

Joint Venture with SOSAA

SOS-Algarve Animals is the operating name of ANIMAL AID – ASSOCIACAO PROTETORA DOS ANIMAIS NIPC 510205372, a registered non-profit organisation whose purpose is the sterilisation of cats & dogs belonging to the street or cats & dogs belonging to low income families within the Central and Eastern Algarve, who otherwise have no means to pay for this operation.

During late-2024, DPDSAA & SOS-Algarve Animals announced a substantial programme(> 1,000 per annum) of cat and dog sterilisation to make a significant step-change within future welfare and birth-rates of many feral cat colonies, plus for low-income family dogs and other eligible participants. This ‘results driven’ programme commenced with a late 2024 trial, then embedded in Central Algarve for 2025 at a run-rate exceeding €10,000 per month.

Due to SOS-Algarve's constant drive & ambition, sterilisation targets for 2025 have already been achieved and plans are under discussion to expand across Western & Eastern Algarve, with an overall 2026 sterilisation funding commitment across the full year that could substantially exceed €20,000 pm.

Joint Venture with ARA for Vila dos Gatos Project
