2025

An installment based grant spread over 12 months to support TNR sterilisation of Pakadora's nearby community-based feral cat colonies.

To provide initial funds for new Winterised shelter for sanctuary cats, plus TNR equipment and sterilisation of several feral cat colonies within their care.

To provide emergency support to Tiny Shelter for building materials and repairs following major flooding of their sanctuary.

2024

To provide additional funds (limited to Sterilisation only) to support animals expressly within their care

To assist several individual carers, having incurred misc. animal welfare bills, which APAA were most efficiently administering.

To provide support to SOSAA during 2024/25 (first year of three) in undertaking ongoing sterilisation/welfare campaign, within the Central Algarve region

Supporting urgent sterilisation and welfare treatments for multiple feral cats/kittens within Benefim, Loule

This is 1st year of 3, following withdrawal of council funding, providing support to the existing ARA Vila Dos Gatos (sterilisation/welfare/wild-homing) of feral cats within Loule municipality.

Supporting urgent medical bill plus multiple feral cats/kittens within Central Algarve

2021 - 2023

Considerable time and effort spent on due-diligence before declining Grant Request, declined due to concerns regarding purpose/benefit for animal welfare.

Approved grant of €2,000 Emergency Grant to be used for sterilisation of a large number of cats within Feral Colony

Financed/supported ABSOL land purchase & undergrowth clearance to create an animal centre/sanctuary via a grant of €21,000. The grant to be used for primary shrub clearance, levelling, fencing, security etc.

Emergency grant of €2,500 to support urgent relocation of animals from council condemned sanctuary (3-A-T) to approved welfare association (ABSOL) located further along Algarve coast.

Without this relocation payment, approx. 70 animals (mainly dogs) would have been (humanely) killed as Tavira Council had no viable alternate kennel facilities available.

Financed/supported SOS-Algarve via a grant of €2,124, to conclude a rolling animal welfare/sterilisation campaign.

The Trust continued supervision of previously ‘managed grant’ funding of specialist veterinary support and emergency treatment costs via TaviVet Clinica Veterina via further top-up of €1,000 during 2021. Additionally, a ‘one-off’ donation of €300 was contributed during April for a specific urgent veterinary bill.

2014 - 2020

Financed/supported SOS-Algarve via a grant of €7,000 for a rolling animal welfare/sterilisation campaign which has been achieved despite timescale delays due to Covid movement restrictions.

Continued supervision of specialist veterinary support and emergency treatment costs via TaviVet Clinica Veterina.

Working directly with the Municipio Tavira to treat a minimum of 150 dogs and cats

Financial commitment and substantial discussions supporting a sterilisation programme within Silves/Messines area were undertaken during 2017/2018. Unfortunately detailed activity abandoned after failure of exhaustive discussions with the council concerned.

In 2019, a further grant of €1,500 euros has been provided to help support fund-raising for a short-term sterilisation programme by SOS-Algarve within the Algarve.

This grant provided ongoing Veterinary support for sick and abandoned animals in the Tavira area.

This grant was awarded to provide ongoing veterinary support for the ADACNR Association.

This grant was awarded to provide animal medical support for 3-A-T Association, Tavira.

This grant was awarded for additional temporary shelters urgently required by the 3-A-T Association, Tavira.

Primary focus was on working with Tavira council in establishing an animal welfare centre.

2011 - 2013

This final support grant was awarded in monthly tranches to facilitate furnishing, monthly foodstuffs and medical support for animals within the holding and quarantine area.

This grant was awarded to assist with provision of a new shelter, animal foodstuffs and medical support for the new Association that was supporting Goldra sanctuary.

This grant was awarded directly to a veterinary practice to provide animal medical support for 3-A-T Association at Tavira

2007 - 2010

This grant was awarded to provide animal medical support for the new Goldra Association

This support grant was awarded in monthly tranches to facilitate furnishing, monthly foodstuffs and medical support for animals within the new holding and quarantine area.

This grant concluded additional fencing of pen and quarantine areas for the GUADI Association, V.R.S.A facility.

This grant allowed design and build of a substantive integrated concrete building, pen and quarantine area for the GUADI Association, V.R.S.A and Castro Marim councils.

Expectation was that up to 100 dogs would be housed within the overall structure, removing them from dirty and soiled temporary accommodation (discarded and broken caravans).

This grant was awarded in several tranches to facilitate continued operation of an existing sanctuary that had encountered extreme financial distress, the funding allowed continuation of foodstuffs and medical treatments whilst the sanctuary founder dealt with ill-health and personal issues.
